Educational Goals and Objectives*
After attending this meeting, participants will be able to:- Describe the state of the science of self management in heart failure.
- Identify common electrophysiologic abnormalities in the heart failure patient.
- Identify patients who would benefit from device therapies (ICD, CRT, LVAD).
- Describe advanced practice aspects/issues of heart failure care.
- Manage the issues that are global to the heart failure population.
- Define the role of co-morbidities and the impact on patient outcomes.
- Interpret research findings to appropriately improve practice.
- Discuss motivational interviewing and its application.
- Describe the pathophysiologic processes and sequelae of heart failure.
- Summarize the clinical and research evidence that supports the link between depression and heart failure.

Topics for this track include neurohormonal pathways in heart failure, syncope in the heart failure patient, diuretic management, and best practices for home care.
Track 2: Advanced Aspects of Heart FailureThe Advanced Aspects of Heart Failure track is tailored to advanced practice nurses (APN) and clinicians who have secured the basic knowledge and wish to grow a deeper understanding of heart failure concepts.
Track 3: Global Aspects of Heart FailureThe Global Aspects of Heart Failure track covers general heart failure topics and scientific sessions highlighting nursing research. These sessions can apply to everyone who takes care of heart failure patients.
